Manufacturing Output in Japan Slumps As Exports Slow

On June 29th Markit released Japan’s Manufacturing PMI and the highlights are below:

  • New orders declined for the first time in six months. The rate of decline was small;
  • New export orders dropped at it sharpest pace in four months;
  • Manufacturing output fell slightly; despite the decline in output order backlogs continued their decline;
  • Employment growth slowed to a slight rate;
  • Input costs fell marginally; selling prices dropped solidly.
